Well head panels for Tyra Future is the second largest order in our history

The order for the Tyra Future project is the second largest order in HYTOR’s history and will mean an expansion of the workforce.

23. September 2018

The order comes at a time when HYTOR has been experiencing the depressed oil and gas market in Denmark for a while. HR Manager Henrik Larsen says: “We have long wished for a higher level of activity. We have also noticed the downturn in the oil and gas market, of course, so we are looking forward to a higher level of activity again.” Together with various activities in Qatar and the launch of a new tool concept, the order will increase the level of activity throughout the company and will also mean the recruitment of more staff. “Overall, we have resources for the task, but with this order in combination with the increased activity in other business areas and our mission to maintain our flexibility as a supplier, we would like to employ more people,” says HR Manager Henrik Larsen. He is backed up by divisional director Johnny Rosenvinge-Grønne, who says: “We have an incredibly strong team right now, which is well equipped for tasks such as these, but as a department, we also have a major role in engineering and project work for our activities in Qatar, which is also enjoying extremely positive development, so from a future perspective, we would also like to expand the workforce in Engineering.”

The order for complete well head panels for the Tyra Future project will not only increase activity at HYTOR, it will also mean increased activity for subcontractors. “We have skilled partners who will of course also be a part of this project,” says logistics manager Dorte M. Jensen, adding “We outsource the tasks where it makes sense to use our skilled partners, for example steel work.”
The order for Tyra Futures for complete well head panels includes both well head controls, hydraulic power units and accumulators, and is an extremely documentation-heavy project that imposes great demands on traceability for both HYTOR and its subcontractors.

“We are proud to be able to bring in this order,” says director Niels G. Langerhuus and continues “For a company of our size, competing with large international competitors, to manage to bring in this order and ensure that an order such as this for Tyra Future is anchored in the locally area, it naturally brings a smile to your face.” During the period of low activity in the Danish oil and gas market, HYTOR has used the time to equip the company for an ever greater competitive market and increased internationalization covering both the optimization of processes and the implementation of new digital systems. “As a company, we are in the process of understanding the way that digitalization is rapidly increasing, and of course as a company we also want to be a part of that. At the same time, it is certainly important for our export projects to win an order for an international platform builder, even in competition with large international companies.” Finally he states: “It’s a reference that we are extremely proud of.”

The order for complete well control for Tyra Future includes 5 HPU (Hydraulic Power Unit) installations, 4 accumulator units and 4 well head panels. The order shall be delivered in two stages a month apart in the first half of 2019. The delivery also includes on-site installation of the well head panels in Batam, Indonesia, where the platforms for the Tyra Future project are being built.

Total is the operator of the Tyra oil field in the North Sea and it has commissioned a reconstruction of this field. A project that has been named Tyra Future. Reconstruction of the Tyra field is expected to run from 2019 to 2022.

For several decades, HYTOR has delivered solutions and components to the Danish oil and gas industry, including Maersk Oil & Gas, which was recently acquired by the French company Total.
